Guest Room Window Treatments

Image
The window treatments for the sliding glass door in the rear guest room were installed today. They stack on the right so they don't get caught up in the door when it is being opened or closed and they are fully blackout lined because the room faces northeast and gets a lot of early morning sun. The fabric is Eastern Accents Penelope Powder Blue  -- an embroidered fabric. I am such a sucker for embroidery! New guest bedroom draperies; personal collection

Hall Bath Window Treatment

Image
It was a long wait for the window treatment for the hall bath as the material was a real splurge. It's hand printed from Galbraith & Paul -- the Lotus pattern in an Aqua colorway. We had them made to open top down as the neighbor's house is quite close. Hall bath window treatment; personal collection

Kitchen Tour

Image
The kitchen is almost complete. I am still fiddling with organization but have plenty of room for my pots, pans, utensils and tableware. For the main core of the house (foyer, great room, kitchen and pantry), we used house plan 51754HZ . The main changes we made to the kitchen were using Thermador columns for the refrigerator, freezer and wine chiller and using drawers instead of doors on the perimeter wall of base cabinets. We also added three Hudson Valley Lighting 15-inch Lambert pendants. The plan just had recessed lighting throughout the kitchen. The counter stools are the Capitola stools from Palecek. Getting to comfortable counter stools was a  saga ! We purchased the swan at the 32nd Decoy Festival  last December. Eventually, our sofa will be delivered and will be placed in front of the swan and the console table. Master Bedroom Drapes Dither

Image
As you may recall we had part of the window treatments for the master bedroom installed earlier this month. I still want to order draperies and am now in a dither. Zuniga Interiors provided a few options assuming that the room would be painted a custom Sherwin Williams mix to match Magnolia Home's Pearly Cotton  except the bed wall which Zuniga wanted to be Aquitaine -- the same color as our den built-in cabinets. I was naughty and didn't follow instructions and instead painted the entire room Sherwin Williams Billowy Breeze . So what does that insubordination do to the drapery fabric options? Paint color and three fabric options; personal collection The top right fabric is Kravet Basics Haleiwa-135 and it was my initial favorite. The bottom right fabric is Charlotte Moss Rohan Watercolor  and it was Zuniga Interiors favorite. But then I had two throw pillows and the pantry sink skirt done in Master Fabric Imperatrice-022 and I like it much more than I did from th...

Master Suite Window Treatments

Image
We have seven windows in our bedroom, two in our bathroom and one in our closet. The window treatments in the bedroom will eventually be layered woven wood shades and drapes. However, we didn't get the drapery at this time -- just the shades. They are from Horizons Window Fashions; the pattern is Tranquility and the color is Peca n. We got these as full black-out shades. Master bedroom shades; personal collection In the bathroom, we had full blackout shades made that can open from the top of the window or the bottom. This allows us to get maximum light into the room and still have privacy. They were made from Norbar Fabrics Bellamy Cotton 1 . Zuniga Interiors specified off-white shades. I was tempted to have them match the bedroom drapery fabric, but since we are not getting those drapes anytime soon, I chose to play it safe and go with a solid fabric for the bathroom Master bathroom window treatments; personal collection The window in the closet is high on the wal...

Bonus Room Window Treatments

Image
The bonus room is upstairs and Pete uses it for his office. It has four windows. Two overlook the river but two look down on our neighbors house so we wanted window treatments for privacy. Zuniga Interiors selected another Kravet fabric -- Kashmira in Indigo . I haven't yet taken a good photograph of the shades so this fabric swatch should give you the idea. Kitchen and Pantry Window Treatments

Image
The window treatments for the kitchen and pantry are woven wood shades by Horizons Window Fashions. The pattern and color are Veranda Light Walnut . Five were installed -- four in the kitchen and one in the pantry. The color is a perfect compliment to the furniture in the eat-in area of the kitchen. Kitchen shades; personal collection This is the single window that overlooks the screen porch. Identical shades are on the three windows that overlook the river to the left of this photo. The pantry window overlooks the road at the front of the house. Zuniga Interiors specified off-white or ivory linen drapes for the eat-in area along with woven wood shades. We chose to wait on those for now. I've been back and forth about drapes vs. no drapes but am still undecided. If you recall, the sink in the pantry, where I wash dishes, is exposed. So we also had a "sink skirt" made for it. It is made from Master Fabric's Stuti collection -- Imperatrice 022 . Sink skir...

Den Window Treatments

Image
Today was a big day at River House. In early March we ordered many window treatments for the house. Then the Coronavirus arrived and the workroom shutdown for a couple of months. But our window treatments were finally installed today! We'll look first at the ones in the Den. It was the only room where we selected both Roman shades and drapes. Den window treatments; personal collection The Den window faces the road and for privacy we added Bahama shutters to the outside. The Roman shades Norbar Fabrics Joplin Snow 14 . I do not know what trim was used on the shades. It was a substitute as our original selection was no longer available. The drapes are a Kravet Basics fabric -- KRA-35273-1613 . I am such a sucker for an embroidered fabric. These window treatments are a departure from what Zuniga Fabrics specified, but they are beautiful, too! Den Window Treatments

Image
Zuniga Interiors specified window treatments from The Shade Store throughout River House because we could purchase good quality shades and drapes online. However, Pete and I were worried about measuring accurately and hanging everything like a pro. So we asked our builder's interior designer about a workroom in the area we could use to fabricate our window treatments. She pointed us in the direction of McQueen's Interiors . Zuniga Interiors fabric selections for the Den; personal collection The solid ivory fabric on the far left was recommended for the drapes and the beige and ivory floral next to it for relaxed Roman shades. I am such a sucker for embroidered fabric that when I spotted one in my favorite Kravet fabric book, I was a goner. Beth at McQueens had already suggested using a solid for the shade so we could apply some pretty trim to the bottom edge. That meant we could use the embroidered fabric for drapes. I can't wait to see them on the windows! Rom...
