Classic Wicker Rocker

Ever since designing the furniture layout of the screen porch earlier this month, I have been worried that Summer Classics is in the process of discontinuing their Classic Wicker collection. Far fewer pieces of furniture from the collection are currently displayed on their website from when I originally purchased a sofa and rocker for our porch in Oakton.

I decided the safest thing to do would be to purchase the second rocker we need for the River House screen porch as soon as Summer Classics had a sale. I checked the website a few days ago and noticed they were having a 40 percent off 4th of July sale through July 6. The sales person confirmed the line was being discontinued but that I could still order a second rocker. Hooray!

Unfortunately, the cute little dot cushion fabric is no longer available so I am purchasing two cushions in Sunbrella Sponge Pumice as it matches well with the Arch Spa fabric on the sofa -- one for the new rocker and one for our existing rocker.

Like all things in this new virus era in which we live, I will have to wait some months for my rocker -- likely until the end of September. It is certainly trying to teach me patience!

Den Built-ins

At the front of the house off the foyer is a room that on the original plans was a formal dining room which was open to the great room. A formal dining area doesn't suit our style of entertaining so we walled the room off, separating it from the great room. We plan to use it as a small den for watching television in the evenings. Along one wall will be built-in cabinets because you can never have enough bookcases and storage space. It will also house Pete's big TV. Great Room Fireplace: Take 2

I wanted the fireplace in the Great Room to look like this, except with Walker Zanger Duquesa Catarina ceramic tile in Aqua instead of a marble surround. Courtesy of Southern Living However the Duquesa Catarina tile is 4-5/8" square and requires four tiles to complete the design. So we would need the surround to be at least 9-1/4" wide with a smidge more for grout. We purchased these Cooper Upholstered Cubes from Ballard Designs for the sunroom in our Oakton house and had them reupholstered in a Gabrielle Chambray, a fabric exclusive to Ballard Designs that had been discontinued before I made the decision.
