Meeting with Our Builder

Yesterday, was all about our house. We met with TAB's interior designer yesterday morning and went over all our outstanding questions:
  1. We chose two panel Shaker style, or slab interior doors (more expensive, of course)
  2. We finalized the casing trim for the doors and windows
  3. We selected the stucco color for the foundation
  4. We finalized our hardwood floor selection (white oak 3-1/2" wide stained in place)
  5. We determined where the handheld shower head would be installed in the master shower
  6. We specified the stain color for the front entry doors
  7. We located the returns for the two HVAC units (pantry and laundry room)
  8. We signed-off on the configuration of the Master Closet
  9. We got the bill for all the the extra electrical outlets, switches and lights we wanted
  10. We finalized all the tile for the house and who is buying what tile
  11. We decided against heated floors in the Master Bath and Closet

Then in the afternoon we met our project manager at the house and walked through it reviewing all of the plumbing and electrical rough-ins. We also determined the locations of the electrical panel, pump for the sewer, and outside HVAC units. Still to be decided is where we will bury our propane tank and where to put a generator.

There is one worrying bit of news and its that nasty spring on the right side of our lot. Due to some powerful summer thunderstorms there'd been a lot of erosion near that spring. Our builder assures us they are keeping a close eye on it and are racing to get gutters on the house so that water can be moved away from the spring. Once the construction is nearly complete and they begin final grading for landscaping, they can install a French drain or other permanent solutions.

So far, working with TAB Premium Built Homes has been an easy process. They are great at putting up with my OCD behavior! They communicate extremely well, and give us time to make decisions and are very up front about when they need answers.
